Pollinators

@Nathalie_ouederni

All flowering plants need to be pollinated to produce seeds and survive. And about two-thirds of human diet comes from pollinated plants. 75% of the wild flora depends on pollinating animals for reproduction.

And if that’s not enough, endangered plants are also facing the threat of pollinator extinction.

No bees means no tomatoes, no almonds, no coffee, no zucchini, no mangoes,….

In the report on pesticides 2021 by Ecologists in Action “Directly to your hormones – Disruptive food guide” we find that fruits and vegetables are the group where the largest number of pesticide residues have been detected, 103 different substances. 31% of those analyzed are substances not authorized by Europe.

25% of the 20,000 bee species may have become extinct.

To find out more about the problem, we recommend:

Visit the exhibition “More than bees” at the Montjuïc Botanical Garden by the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona extended until October 2022.
