Ars et flora is an artistic book which features 55 works of art (watercolors and illustrations) of numerous plants on the verge of extinction in Catalonia. It sets out to raise awareness of their plight and ask us to reflect on the flora that might be lost forever.
The illustrations are the work of 12 artists. Every picture is accompained by a photograph and a brief descriptive passage detailing the plant’s characteristics and other points of interest.
Ars et Flora also includes short chapters which serve to put the work of art in context with respect to the current state of Catalonia’s flora, provide information and resources regarding protection and mitigation efforts and musings on the role of art as a tool to inspire and develop the changfge of mentality which our planet so badly needs.
All too aware of our global footprint, we have paid careful attention to the principles of sustainability and the need to reduce negative environmental impacts at every stage in the creation and production of the book.
