Assun Savall

I am Assun Savall, a biologist, scientific illustrator, and Biology teacher.

For me, scientific illustration has allowed me to unite passions, drawing, science, and didactics.

My illustrations are the result of observing, admiring, moving, understanding, and then moving on to the line, to the drawing to explain a thousand forms that nature takes, which is more beautiful, which is more amazing…

And so, orchids, lilies, leaves, fruits, snails, starfish, stones, butterflies … make their way between the drawings to fill with color, and show us how they are, outside and inside and wanting to go further to highlight characters useful for study and convey feelings and emotions.

The plants I paint for the book: Gentiana angustifolia , Spiraea crenata, Linaria oligantha , Gagea pratensis and Asplenium sagittatum .
